Natalie HOWARD - Double Semi-Finalist in International Songwriting Contest!
Two songs: 'I Don't Want To Live Like That', winner of the 2006 Independent Music Awards County Song of the Year in the United States, and 'The Long Night', #1 video clip on Country Music Channel Top 20 Countdown Chart, have made it through to the semi-finals of the 2005 International Songwriting Competition. Both are from Natalie's debut album "Yesterday's Makeup" which has just been released simply as ‘Natalie Howard’ through Go Grrrl Records in the United States.
The ISC announced: "We received almost 15,000 entries from 80 countries, making the selection process an extremely challenging yet enjoyable one due to the many excellent entries received."
Over US$150,000 in cash and prizes will be shared by 50 winners. "In addition to great prizes, ISC offers the unique opportunity to have your music heard by the most impressive group of judges from a variety of industry backgrounds in any songwriting competition. This makes ISC the songwriting competition to take note of" - The New York Times.
To have 2 songs in the semi-finals is an exceptional achievement.
The 2005 finalists will be announced on 1 February. Winners of the ISC will be announced in March. We wish Natalie all the best!
'I Don't Want to Live Like That' has also just been released as Natalie's debut single in the US. She is currently in Nashville and heavily involved in the promotion of the single.
Meanwhile, in Australia 'Is It Just Me' is being released to radio on NFS#102. The song is co-written by Natalie with noted Nashville writers Rob Crosby (Martina McBride/Brooks & Dunn) and Craig Carp (Alan Jackson). 'Is It Just Me' is modern country mixed with pop and rock styles that artists like SHANIA and KEITH URBAN lean towards.
